Dr. Burstein completed medical school at the University of Toronto and completed his residency programs in internal medicine and cardiology in Toronto. He was the chief cardiology resident at the University Health Network in 2003. In 2005 he completed a one year interventional cardiology (angioplasty) fellowship at St. Michael’s Hospital.
He is a staff cardiologist at Scarborough and Rouge Hospital. He has been an active member in the launch of the Code STEMI initiative across Scarborough and Durham, which takes patients with acute myocardial infarctions directly to the catheterization lab at the Centenary site for a primary angioplasty.
Dr. Burstein has a busy cardiology office practice seeing patients in the Scarborough, Pickering, and Ajax offices of the Heart Health Institute.
